That was awesome

Mozilla Webmaker

Hi there,

It surprises me each time it happens, but it really shouldn’t anymore.

Every year, the Mozilla Festival is easily the best one we’ve ever had — until the next one, when it gets more awesome.

Across everything that got started, the common thread was making and learning together. We’re already counting the days until next year’s big weekend.

My favorite part of MozFest, this year, was our official release of Popcorn Maker, which changes the way you can experience video on the Web.

Think of it as a supercharged Pop-Up video: You can take any video and make it into something new. And I’m not just talking about adding simple talk balloons — as fun as those are. Popcorn Maker lets you pull content into your video from all over the Web. See how.

Whether you incorporate Twitter feeds, Google Maps, Flickr streams or Wikipedia pages, the video you create won’t be static. The content will be updated in real time — that means every time you watch the video, something could be different. Here are three great examples of Popcorn Maker in action:

Make a "breadboard" circuit board. This popcorn video from Make Magazine gives you links, instructions and a deeper dive.

Why does the ITU (International Telecommunications Union) matter? There's an international governmental body meeting next month that could dramatically affect the fate of the Web. Check out what's at stake and maybe take a stab remixing a video of your own!

HowTo: chocolate-covered bacon. Sounds fun, right? What more do you need?

Stay tuned for more on Popcorn Maker, but for now, have fun making:
